Suit Filed Claiming Dockless Scooters Endanger People with Disabilities Using San Diego Sidewalks

Alex Montoya, who wears prosthetics on both arms and his right leg, used to enjoy walking in his East Village neighborhood where he lives.  No longer.  Now he fears for his safety because every day he is dodging scooters travelling at high speeds down the sidewalk.  Several times scooters strewn across his path have also caused him to nearly trip.

Stephen Sigler Accepted into American Board of Trial Advocates

San Diego, California, December 11, 2018 — Shareholder Stephen T. Sigler, has been accepted into the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA). 

ABOTA dedicates itself to the preservation and promotion of the Seventh Amendment, which guarantees the right to civil jury trials. Clark Hudson Nominated for International Society of Barristers Fellowship

Neil Dymott shareholder Clark R. Hudson was recently nominated for a fellowship in the International Society of Barristers. No lawyer may apply for membership in the Society. Damages: Past, Present, and Future

MICRA, the Medical Injury Compensation Reform Act, was passed by California in 1975 to control sky-rocketing medical malpractice insurance premiums, which seemed to force physicians out of practice, and to ensure the continuing availability of malpractice insurance coverage.   MICRA instituted a cap of $250,000 on any award for non-economic damages, like pain and suffering, and imposed limits on plaintiffs’ attorney fees, with a sliding scale, allowing for fees between 40% and 15%, depending on the award.
